I have walked by this scene at Point Lobos countless times and the idea of this composition was never one that entered my head. I think its because of the crazy depth of field challenges presented by the angles that the fallen trees lays at. This time I was there with a view camera with full movements and so after some careful framing and adjustments using compound movements (using tilt and swing simultaneously), I was able to get what I wanted which was the gnarly tree in the ground in focus almost everywhere but the rocks below and in the distance blurred.
