Ring-necked Pheasant

Back in one April morning, I photographed this Ring-necked Pheasant at the Palo Alto Baylands. With preparing for the Galapagos trip and work since returning, I haven't had the chance to process this image until now.

I've seen pheasants at the Baylands in the past but they've been rather skittish. This one hung around for quite a while allowing itself to be photographed. The background was a little challenging at times though.

I was also able to get close enough to make a couple of tighter portraits.
