Big Basin

There are three large fire complexes that are burning around the Bay Area and one of them the CZU complex in the Santa Cruz mountains has burned large portions of Big Basin State Park, including the museum and visitor center. The park is home to towering redwoods, many of which are hundreds of years old, hopefully some were able to survive. This is a place I’ve visited several times over the years, the first being in early 2006 shortly after I moved to the Bay Area though I wish I had spent more time there last winter. The 11 mile loop including Berry Creek Falls was my first hike and goal while recovering from a broken ankle in 2014. I’m sharing a selection of a few of my favorite photos over the years, including one featured as a backdrop on Chromecasts over the years.
